Blanca Gleisner

Blanca Gleisner began playing the oboe in Concepción, the city of her birth, in Chile. She continued taking lessons with Klaus Becker in Hanover after her family moved to Germany when she was 12. While a student, she took prizes in several competitions and joined the Aachen Symphony Orchestra. At present Gleisner divides her time between the orchestra, her concerts as a soloist, and playing chamber music. She has appeared with numerous chamber orchestras and is a regular guest as principal oboist with opera and symphony orchestras. She has played in concerts at several festivals and given concerts in her country of origin, Chile, as well as in Finland. She has guested at the Helsinki Spring Light Chamber Music Festival. In 2015 Gleisner’s chamber ensemble won the Echo-Klassik Prize award, and last summer she launched her own chamber music festival, Heartmade in Aachen.
