Helka Seppälä
Helka Seppälä is from East Helsinki and has later made a home in Lappeenranta, after winning the audition in 2015 and becoming the section leader for the contrabasses. She began to play at the age of 6 with Lasse Lagercrantz at the East Helsinki Music school. Later she continued studies at the Sibelius Academy and Dresden Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Webern. She graduated in 2021. Her teachers along the way have been Panu Pärssinen, Juho Martikainen, Kati Salovaara and Benedikt Hübner. Besides playing in orchestras, she is keen on chamber music and has been able to fulfil her passion on numerous festivals, like Helsinki Festival, Meidän Festivaali and Chamber music in Kaakko. Seppälä is one of three artistic directors and charter members of a new Kumaus festival in Lappeenranta.Programme
