Markus Hohti
Markus Hohti is a cellist of great versatility – equally at home whether playing at contemporary music concerts, chamber music festivals, and jazz clubs. He has developed a special interest in electroacoustic music and playing repertoire from romantic era with gut strings. He performs actively as a soloist, chamber musician and with his ensembles defunensemble and Rödberg Trio (Antti Tikkanen, Markus Hohti, Joonas Ahonen). As a chamber musician he has performed at major festivals and concert halls such as Salzburger Biennale, Lucerne Festival, Our Festival, Kuhmo Chamber Music, Tonhalle Zürich and Philharmonie Berlin.
Markus Hohti is a co-founder and co-director of Kino Soi! concert series together with Petja Kainulainen, Liina-Mari Raivola and Hanna Hohti. A committed and experienced pedagogue, Markus was appointed as a senior lecturer at Tampere University of Applied Sciences in 2014. Markus will be working as a Lucerne Festival Contemporary Leader in 2024–2027.
