
Miritza Lundberg
Miritza Lundberg began playing the violin at the age of 6 as a student of Jerzy Blazkievitz at the Helsinki Conservatory. She started her studies at the Sibelius Academy’s youth department in 1992, with professors Igor Bezdrodnyi and Mari Tampere as her teachers. From 1999 to 2003, she studied under the guidance of Professor Mi-kyung Lee and completed her violin diploma with excellent grades. Other teachers have included Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Sergei Kravchenko, and Ana Chumachenko. She has performed in the Nordic countries, Germany, Austria, Russia, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and the USA. Miritza Lundberg has long collaborated with pianist Kalle Toivio. They held a joint concert in New York in the spring of 2010. She has also performed regularly with pianists Anna Kuvaja and Kemal Achourbekov. Other collaborators include Vadim Kolpakov, Roby Lakatos, Loyko, Raya Bielenberg, Hortto Kaalo, Vasile Pantir, Anneli Sari, and Esma Redzepova.
In addition to classical solo concerts, Miritza Lundberg has performed with various folk music and world music groups in Finland and Europe. In 2016, she founded the 9-member group “Miritza Lundberg & Baro Baht Ensemble”. The group’s music focuses on traditional Romani music, incorporating elements of both folk music and art music. The repertoire includes virtuoso music as well as song and dance traditions.
