Alessandra Ammara

Alessandra Ammara came to the attention of the music world when as a young woman she met with success in several international piano competitions. She studied at the Luigi Cherubini Music Conservatory in Florence and at the Piano Academy in Imola. Her teachers have included Maria Tipo, Paul Badura-Skoda, Dmitri Bashkirov, Franco Scala, Boris Petrushansky, Leon Fleischer, William Naboré and Fou Ts’ong. Ammara has appeared at major concert venues in Europe and in North America. She has played as soloist with the Wiener Symphoniker, Berliner Symphoniker, Italian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Calgary and Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestras. Ammara regularly plays chamber music and frequently gives concerts with her husband, pianist Roberto Prosseda. They received an award for their disc of music by Mendelssohn, and Ammara has also been involved in a project to record the complete works of Chopin. Currently Alessandra Ammara is Professor of Piano in Ravenna, is much in demand as a jury member in piano competitions and is a teacher in masterclasses in Europe and North America.
