Artturi Aalto

Artturi Aalto begun his cello studies in 2006 at the Espoo Music School with Jan Cibulka, and after his teacher was Tuija Vainio. Since 2013 Artturi has studied at the Sibelius Academy’s Youth Department under Timo Hanhinen. Later his teacher has been Marko Ylönen. Aalto has taken part in numerous master courses with e.g. Ivan Monighetti, Ola Karlsson, Vladimir Perlin, Arto Noras, Jian Wang, Marko Ylönen, Frans Helmerson and Andreas Brantelid. Guidance towards chamber music he has gotten from Marko Ylönen, Paavo Pohjola, Paavali Jumppanen, Konstantin Bogino, Menahem Pressler, Ivry Gitlis and Leonid Kerbel. Artturi Aalto has performed as a soloist with Tapiola’s Young Sinfonics, conducted by Jan Söderblom and Erkki Lasonpalo, with Tapiola Sinfonietta with Pekka Kuusisto and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra with Hannu Lintu. He has played at several festivals and concert series, including Sibafest, Kamarikesä-festival, VocalEspoo Festival and Naantali Music Festival. Aalto has also performed as a solo musician at the Finnish National Theatre in a production "Death in Venice" with actors Jukka Puotila and Jukka-Pekka Palo. In 2013 he won third prize in Tallinn Young Musician Contest, gained a place in the final round of "Janne Soloist Competition" in 2015 and forth place in the Turku Cello Competition in 2018. Aalto has performed as a chamber musician and soloist e.g. Tarto, Velenje, Brussels and Warsaw. He has performed chamber music with prestigious musicians like Minna Pensola, Antti Tikkanen, Sergey Malov, Jonathan Roozeman and Jerome Perno. Artturi Aalto plays a Nicolas Lupot cello from 1795, owned by the OP Art Foundation.
