Darren Acosta

Darren Acosta was born in New Orleans, where he studied trombone with Michael Genevay, Richard Erb and Larry Campbell. He continued his studies in Boston under Scott Hartman and Norman Bolter and at New York’s Juilliard School with Joseph Alessi. He has also attended a large number of masterclasses led by Douglas Yeo, Per Brevig, David Finlayson, and others. Upon graduation from Juilliard, Acosta played with the Empire Brass, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops Orchestra, and the Utah Symphony. From 2009, Acosta was alternating leader of the trombone section of the orchestra of the Finnish National Opera until he was selected as principal trombone with the Finnish Radio Symphony.
