Eero Ignatius

Eero Ignatius was born in 1985 and is a working chamber and orchestral musician and a band player. He studied bass in his hometown of Oulu and then in Helsinki as a pupil of Juha Nääppä and Juho Martikainen. His main job since 2007 has been with the Helsinki Philharmonic double bass section, of which he has occasionally been head. Ignatius is also a founder member of the Jousia Ensemble and has been a regular member of the chamber orchestra Avanti! since 2005. He also tours Finland as bassist with the Waltteri Torikka Trio. He has also played in numerous other lineups performing in various musical styles. He has also gained a new perspective on his calling in masterclasses given by the likes of Jussi Javas and Janne Saksala.
