Mimosa Laine is currently studying for a master’s at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, where her teacher is Anders Kontus. She started playing the trombone in 2006 at the East Helsinki Music Institute, having first played piano and recorder. Later she decided to concentrate on the trombone and applied to Helsinki Conservatory accordingly. There her teacher was Mikko Sinivalo. Laine then left for Stockholm to take a bachelor’s degree course at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. There she was taught by Sven-Erik Eriksson, Jonas Bylund and Håkan Björkman. Laine has been in many masterclasses, led by such musicians as Christian Lindberg, Matthew Gee, Mayumi Shimizu and Fabrice Millischer. In 2015 she entered the Janne Soloist Performance Competition and reached the finals.
