Olivier Thiery

The Frenchman Olivier Thiery received his first double bass lessons at home at the age of fifteen by his own father Georges Thiery. In 2008, after Graduating from the ‘Folkwang University of Arts’ in Essen, Germany, Olivier moved to Amsterdam where he was appointed as a permanent member with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

In 2009 he was awarded a third prize during the 58th international ARD competition in Munich. In addition to his commitment to Camerata RCO Olivier gives regular solo recitals and chamber music performances in different festivals over Europe, as in West Cork chamber music festival, Schiermonnikoog international kamermuziek festival, Musique à l’Emperi in Salon de Provence, Kempten Classix, Wassenaar International Chamber Music Festival… with partners such as Alexei Ogrintchouk, Emmanuel Pahud, Eric Le Sage, Daishin Kashimoto, Anthony Marwood, Lise Berthaud, Lilli Maijala, Olivier Triendl etc… Since 2014, Olivier teaches with a lot of enthusiasm at the “Conservatorium van Amsterdam”.

Olivier plays on a doublebass by C. Candi on loan from The Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation.
