Pavel Vernikov

Pavel Vernikov, a pupil of David Oistrakh and Semyon Snitkovsky, was known to concertgoers as a virtuoso violinist more than 20 years ago now. He won the International ARD Violin Competition in Munich and the Vittorio Gui International Chamber Music Competition in Florence. Vernikov has appeared on some of the world’s most prestigious concert platforms, such as Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, New York’s Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center, London’s Wigmore Hall, La Salle Gaveau in Paris, La Scala in Milan and Santa Cecilia in Rome. Vernikov has played for the last 30 years in the Tchaikovsky Trio, and he teaches and gives masterclasses all over the world. At present Vernikov is a professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and at the University of Music Lausanne. In 2013 he was appointed Artistic Director of the Sion Festival in Switzerland. Vernikov plays a Guadagnini violin from 1747 owned by the Pro Canale Foundation of Milan.
