Roosa Lampela

Roosa Lampela

Roosa Lampela’s parents had a clear vision for their three girls: they would all learn how to milk a cow, drive a tractor and play a brass instrument. So she started to play the trombone when she was just nine years old at the Länsi-Pohja Music Institute in Finland. Born in 1994, this daughter of a dairy farmer dreamed early on of becoming a professional musician – it was easier and much more fun to play the trombone than work on a farm (and it still is). Her academic path took her to the Tampere Conservatory, then to the Sibelius Academy, and afterwards she joined Jonas Bylund’s class in Hannover. At present she studies at the Sibelius Academy under Valtteri Malmivirta. Lampela has studied in masterclasses given by Michel Becquet, Joseph Alessi, James Markey, and others. She gained experience as a young soloist with the Tampere Philharmonic and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestras and as a soloist with the ensemble Vaskiakatemia at Lieksa Brass Week. Roosa Lampela likes cats, reading and - you’ve guessed it – milk! Lampela is in the Young Chamber Musicians programme.
