Sara Etelävuori

Sara Etelävuori was born in 1990 and studied violin with Seppo Tukiainen at the Sibelius Academy Junior Department and later as a pupil of Mihaela Martin at the Cologne University of Music. She has also attended masterclasses given by Ana Chumachenko, Miriam Fried and Christian Tetzlaff, among others. Etelävuori has seen success in competitions, winning first prize in the Jyväskylä Violin Competition in 2006, for example, as well as the prize for best performance of a compulsory work at the International Pacem in Terris Violin Competition in Bayreuth. She also took first prize in the international Atlantic Coast Music competition in Portugal in 2016 and that same year reached the semi-finals in the Sibelius Violin Competition. She has played as soloist with several Finnish orchestras and regularly performs chamber music at the festivals in Kuhmo and Sysmä. She is also studying chamber music alongside solo performance in Cologne. Since February 2017 she has been playing an Italian Panormo violin from 1790.
