Tuomas Miettola
Finnish lyric tenor Tuomas Miettola made his acclaimed debut in the Finnish National Opera as Novice in Benjamin Britten’s Billy Budd in March 2022. His operatic roles on stage includes Fritz in Mascagni’s L’amico Fritz, Albert Herring in Britten’s Albert Herring, Ferrando in Mozart’s Cosí fan tutte, Camille in Lehar’s The Merry Widow and Male Chorus in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. Miettola was awarded as a scholar of Finnish Wagner Association and “Friends of Salzburg Music Festival” Association in 2022.
As a highlight of the season 2022/2023, Miettola will be seen as Tamino (Mozart: The Magic Flute) in Oulu City Theater in Finland. He will also portray the role of Ocean in Sampo Kasurinen’s modern opera Trapped Butterfly alongside soprano Marjukka Tepponen. The opera will be played in three different chamber music festivals in Finland during the summer of 2023. The season also includes two other world premiere roles in Finland. On the concert stage, Miettola will be singing with Tapiola Sinfonietta as Der Offizier in concertante version of Ernst Krenek’s opera Der Diktator in March 2022 under the baton of Olari Elts. The season also includes appearances with the Finnish Baroque Orchestra in September 2022 and the Bucarest Radio Symphony Orchestra in the Enescu Festival conducted by maestro Hannu Lintu in September 2023.
Miettola has performed as a soloist with great symphony orchestras such as the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, the Pori City Orchestra and the Joensuu City Orchestra. He has has had the honor of collaborating with renowned conductors such as Hannu Lintu, Mikko Franck, John Storgårds, Tarmo Peltokoski, Valentin Uruypin and Eva Ollikainen.
