Yan-lok Hoi
Hoi Yan-lok is the winner of Musicus Society’s Young Artist Audition in 2025. Hoi began studying violin with his father and later trained under Zhu Xiong-zhen, Leung Kin-fung, and Michael Ma at the Junior Music Programme of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna under Boris Kuschnir and is completing his master’s degree there. He is also studying for a viola master’s program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Gerhard Marschner and Johannes Meissel.
A passionate chamber musician, Hoi co-founded the Grace Trio and Ineo Quartet. The Ineo Quartet has been invited to major festivals across Europe and recorded two albums. In 2024/25, they studied with Günter Pichler at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid and were featured in the Musikverein chamber music season.
Hoi has performed internationally with orchestras and ensembles at venues including the Musikverein, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the Kennedy Center. He was invited to perform for the Austrian President in 2024 and at Macau’s 20th Handover Anniversary Gala. He is currently active in Vienna as a violinist, violist and soloist with Harmonic Ensemble.
In addition, he is a member of the Orchestra der Vereinigten Bühnen Wien (VBW) and a substitute musician at the Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper).
