MUSIC COURSES

The music courses will mainly be run in two sessions: 14–20.7 and 21–27.7

1. Masterclasses for piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, bassoon, guitar, accordion and kantele
Lessons will be 5 x 45 min.

2. Masterclasses for chamber music
Tuition in chamber music for ready-formed ensembles. Teachers Johannes Meissl, Castalian String Quartet, Danel Quartet, Cuarteto Quiroga, Storioni Trio and Sirkka-Liisa Kaakinen-Pilch & Tuija Hakkila. At Kaakinen-Pilch & Hakkila’s course, the main focus is on chamber music works for strings and piano from the classical period. All teachers also provide chamber music tuition. Chamber music masterclass will consist of four sessions in all, each lasting 60 minutes.

3. Thomas Florio’s artist coaching
Thomas Florio’s artist coaching includes one two-hour public lecture and one private coaching lesson of 50 min. You can choose the whole package (incl. lecture and private coaching), private coaching or participate only in the public lecture.

Personal coaching takes place on the days after the lectures.

Both the music course students and people outside of the courses can apply for the artist coaching.

4. Chamber music workshop
The workshop is intended for players taking part in the masterclasses.

Teachers: Minna Pensola (violin), Annariina Jokela (viola) and Claude Frochaux (cello). Students in the workshop will prepare chamber works for performance at the concert on July 20. The workshop leaders will play in the ensemble. The workshop is free for course participants. The workshop is intended for students who participate in the masterclass on July 14–20.

Course fees:
Individual tuition masterclasses €565/person
Chamber music masterclass (ready-formed ensemble) €500/person
Additional fee for private tuition for ensemble member €230/person
Thomas Florio’s artist coaching: public lecture €25/person, private coaching €90/person, lecture and private coaching €110/person

The fees include tuition, concerts, meals and accommodation (seven nights) in classroom with no more than eight people in it.

Thomas Florio’s artist coaching does not include meals, accommodation or concert tickets.

The paid course fee will not be refunded.

Students should arrive in Kuhmo no later than on the day before tuition begins. Departure is the same day as the last day of teaching is marked.
