Abel Puustinen

Abel Puustinen is a violinist resident in London. Despite his youth, he has given many concerts in Finland and abroad. He is a regular soloist as well as a devoted orchestral and chamber music player. He has performed as soloist with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has performed chamber music in Asia and different parts of Europe. At the Sibelius Academy, Puustinen’s teachers in recent years have been Laura Vikman and Antti Tikkanen. In autumn 2016 he began his studies at London’s Royal College of Music with Professor Jan Repko. Puustinen has also received tuition at the Violin Academy, which is sponsored by the Finnish Cultural Foundation, and in masterclasses given by Ilya Grubert, Mi-kyung Lee, Mihaela Martin, Hagai Shaham and Elina Vähälä, among others. Other important teachers along the way have been Lauri Untamala, Géza Szilvay, Paavo Pohjola and Marko Ylönen. Puustinen is in the Young Chamber Musicians programme.
