Agnese Skrastina

Latvian clarinettist Agnese Skrastina is currently studying at the Sibelius Academy under Harri Mäki. Skrastina gained a first degree in 2014 at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, where she was taught by Guntis Kuzma. She has also studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Andreas Sunde. She has furthermore attended masterclasses given by the likes of Sabine Meyer, François Benda, Yehuda Gilad, Björn Nyman and Sharon Kam. Skrastina has performed as soloist with orchestra several times in Latvia and Germany. In 2014 her wind quintet was selected as the best chamber music ensemble at the Latvian Academy. She took the special prize in 2016 in the international J. Pakalnis wind competition in Vilnius and reached the finals in the Andrejs Jurjāns International Wind Competition in Riga. Following an audition, in 2016 Skrastina played with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. She has also worked with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and the orchestra of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet.
