Alissa Margulis

Violinist Alissa Margulis is well-known for her expressive performances at major concert venues, such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Vienna’s Musikverein and the Tonhalle Zürich. Born into a Russian family of musicians in Germany, Margulis studied in Cologne under Zakhar Bron, in Brussels with Augustin Dumay, and in Vienna as a pupil of Pavel Vernikov. She has won several prizes in international competitions, and Daniel Barenboim presented her with the Pro Europa prize. Margulis appeared with orchestra for the first time when she was seven, and since then has played as soloist with many European and Asian orchestras under the baton of some celebrated conductors. She is also a passionate chamber musician, and her partners in this field have included Martha Argerich, Yuri Bashmet, David Geringas and Mischa Maisky.
