Ásdís Valdimarsdóttir

Ásdís Valdimarsdóttir is one of Iceland’s most well-lnown musicians on the international stage. She studied viola at New York’s Juilliard School under Paul Doktor, Felix Galimir and members of the Juilliard Quartet. After spending five years in the USA she moved to Germany and continued her studies with Nobuko Imai, working with a number of orchestras at the same time. Chamber music is especially important for Valdimarsdóttir, however, and besides her involvement with orchestras, she has played as a member of the Belcanto Trio and Ensemble Modern. From 1995 to 2003 Valdimarsdóttir also played viola with the Chilingirian String Quartet. These days she lives in Amsterdam, where she combines her love of chamber music with teaching and performance. Ásdís Valdimarsdóttir is a member of the Endymion Ensemble, the Erard Ensemble and the Quimias Trio, and teaches at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and at the Royal Northern College of Music.
