Asko Heiskanen

Asko Heiskanen began studying the clarinet in his hometown of Kuopio and continued his studies at the Sibelius Academy and Conservatoire de musique de Genève. His teachers were Kari Kriikku, Osmo Linkola, Charles Neidich and Thomas Friedl. Asko Heiskanen has also been on Ralf Gothóni’s chamber music master courses and studied with Lorenzo Coppola about historical clarinets. Asko Heiskanen has been successful in clarinet competitions, e.g. winning the Crusell Clarinet Competition in 1995. Heiskanen is a permanent member of the Tapiola Sinfonietta. He also plays period instruments, classical and barock clarinets, in ensembles like Ensemble Schrati, Trio Origo, Helsinki Barock Orchestra and Finnish Barock Orchestra.
