Baba Israel

Baba Israel is an artist, producer, educator and consultant, who grew up in a theatrical family in New York. He helped set up the Playback NYC Theatre Company, which combined freestyle hip hop with theatre for the first time. Israel has toured and performed in Asia, Africa, Europe, the South Pacific, and North and South America. He has also been cultural ambassador in international programmes supported by the US State Department. His latest multimedia venture, ’The Spinning Wheel’, was completed when Israel was resident artist with the Bric arts and media organisation in Brooklyn. He took the production to the UK, the Netherlands, Norway and elsewhere in the United States. He regularly collaborates with Grammy award-winning musician and composer Jason Lindner. Baba Israel gained his master’s degree from Goddard College and is artistic director and curator of various charity and festival projects in New York.
