Eero Saunamäki

Eero Saunamäki studied the recorder and saxophone at the Sibelius Academy under Rabbe Forsman and Pekka Savijoki. He gained his master’s degree in both instruments in 2010. Saunamäki has played as soloist and assistant with many professional orchestras, been a frequent performer of chamber music and appeared at festivals in Finland and abroad. He has premiered more than 20 works for recorder and put on concerts of contemporary recorder music. He is also enthusiastic about improvisation and cross-disciplinary projects. Since 2015 he has been involved with the international Canadian Cirque du Soleil Circus. Saunamäki is a specialist woodwind player with the Finnish Guards, a teacher at the Sibelius Academy, a freelance musician and singer, and a performer of popular music. He is also a founder member of the Finnish Recorder Society and its chairman.
