Evan Sanchez

Evan Sanchez

Evan Sanchez began his oboe lessons when he was 11, encouraged by his music teacher at school, Deborah Carnahan. When still very young, he was chosen to play with well-known youth orchestras in his home state of California. In 2008 Sanchez was accepted for a highly respected music college, where he had the opportunity to play in an orchestra, in many chamber ensembles and as a soloist. He then started studying at the Mannes School of Music in New York, where his teacher was Sherry Sylar, oboist with the New York Philharmonic. However, for financial reasons Sanchez had to end his studies in New York, and he continued as a private pupil of Allan Vogel. In 2014 Sanchez went to London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama to study under Nicholas Daniel. Sanchez is a very experienced orchestral player, and is, furthermore, a gifted player of the cor anglais. He has also played in all sorts of chamber music groups since he was at school.
