Hagai Shaham

Hagai Shaham is regarded as one of the most interesting violinists to have come out of Israel in recent years. He has been successful in several competitions, including the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, which he won in 1990. Shaham has given concerts around Europe, Asia and the United States. He has also performed as soloist with the BBC orchestras, the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and many other orchestras. Hagai Shaham studied in Israel with Ilona Feher, and later in the USA with Emanuel Borok, Arnold Steinhardt and the Guarneri Quartet. He has recorded over 20 CDs for Hyperion, Nimbus, Decca, EMI, Chandos, Avie and Naxos. He is a professor at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv and is on the Board of the Ilona Feher Foundation, which he founded to provide support for young Israeli violinists. He is also Artist-in-Residence at New York’s Stony Brook University.
