Helmi Horttana

Helmi Horttana

Helmi Horttana had her first violin lessons when she was just three years old at a summer camp, where she remembers playing on a seesaw far more clearly than receiving music tuition. Nevertheless, in spring 2013, she gained a distinction in her Master’s degree at the Sibelius Academy. Her teachers have mainly included Päivi Lahtinen, Antti Laasanen, Ari Angervo and Petri Aarnio. Since 2011, Horttana has been with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra in the second violins section. She also plays first violin in the Schema Quartet, founded in 2012. She has been coming to Kuhmo since 2002 - she has attended courses, turned pages for pianists and performed as an artist here.
