James Wilson
James Wilson is known worldwide as a player of both the modern and baroque cello and as a conductor. He has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, Vienna’s Musikverein, the Sydney Opera House, the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. An acclaimed chamber musician, he has been a guest at several festivals, including the Hong Kong Arts event, the City of London Festival, New York’s Mostly Mozart event, the Deutches Mozartfest in Bavaria and the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, U.S.A. James Wilson plays regularly with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, with which he is guest principal cellist with. Wilson is Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia. He teaches cello and chamber music at Columbia University in New York.
