Jan Söderblom

Jan Söderblom’s studies in conducting at the Sibelius Academy from 1997 to 2001 resulted in his working with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic, Tampere Philharmonic, Sinfonia Lahti, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, Leipzig MDR Symphony Orchestra and Norwegian Radio Orchestra. From 2001 to 2008 he was Artistic Director of the Lappeenranta City Orchestra and was appointed conductor of the Pori Sinfonietta in 2012. He has also conducted opera both in Finland and Sweden. Söderblom played violin with the New Helsinki Quartet, touring widely and performing in major European concert halls. As a violinist, he has appeared as soloist with many orchestras and been guest conductor both at home and abroad. He plans the programme for the Rauma Festivo Music Festival and is Artistic Director of the Kauniainen Music Festival. Since 2014 he has been first concertmaster of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.
