Since taking third prize in the Turku National Cello Competition in 2010, Joona Pulkkinen has performed as soloist with many orchestras, including the Aurora Symphony Orchestra, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Wallonia Royal Chamber Orchestra, Belgian National Opera Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra, and Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared at major Finnish music festivals and given concerts in many of the concert halls of Europe. For the 2015� season, Pulkkinen was the chosen artist for the Classe d'Excellence de Violoncelle programme under the direction of Gautier Capuçon in Paris. His other teachers have included Gary Hoffman, Marko Ylönen and Pauli Heikkinen. Since autumn 2014 Pulkkinen has been principal cellist with the Tampere Philharmonic. He was also principal cellist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra on its tour of Austria in January 2016. Joona Pulkkinen plays a Charles Adolphe Gand cello from 1855.
