Leena Jaakkola

Leena Jaakkola began playing the violin at the Kerava Music Institute under Erkki Palola. She studied at the Sibelius Academy Youth Department as a pupil of Seppo Tukiainen and later under Mari Tampere-Bezrodny and Petri Aarnio. She gained her master’s degree in music at the Sibelius Academy and at the Zurich University of the Arts in Switzerland with Rudolf Koelman. She has been in masterclasses taught by Hagai Shaham, Lara Lev, Gerhard Schultz, Mi-kyung Lee and Gordan Nicolich. Jaakola has appeared at many chamber music festivals and has played as soloist with the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and Musica di Parma chamber orchestras. She won second prize at the Kiwanis Chamber Music Competition in Switzerland with her piano trio. She has played violin with the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra since 2014 and now also with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Leena Jaakkola plays a Charles Gaillard violin from 1867 owned by the OP Art Foundation. Jaakkola is in the Young Chamber Musicians programme.
