Magdalena Geka

Born in Latvia in 1992, violinist Magdalena Geka is one of her country’s most promising young musicians. In 2014 she was nominated for Latvia’s ‘Young Artist of the Year’, having previously that year achieved acclaim with her debut as soloist with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, replacing the original soloist at short notice. Magdalena Geka is passionate about chamber music and plays in the piano trio called Trio Sōra, who have been accepted for study with the Artemis Quartet at Belgium’s prestigious Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. In 2014 Geka founded the music festival in Saulkrasti, her hometown, where young and talented Latvian musicians studying abroad can get together and play.
