Marzi Nyman

Guitarist Marzi Nyman (b. 1979) is a prime example of the versatile, genre-defying musicianship that has brought new vitality to Finnish rhythm music. Over the years, Nyman has not only made his mark as a guitarist in several leading bands and ensembles, but has also worked extensively in television and film, composed works for orchestras, and performed as a session musician on numerous recordings.

A highly versatile musician, Marzi Nyman has composed film music and performed with a variety of ensembles, including the Lenni-Kalle Taipale Trio and Annamari Kähärä Orchestra. He has been awarded both the Teosto Prize and the City of Espoo Culture Award. Nyman has served as the permanent conductor of the Espoo Big Band since 2012.

In this century alone, the multi-talented artist, often referred to as a “musical chameleon,” has performed on nearly forty albums. In 2022, among other projects, he composed music for the Finnish National Theatre’s productions of Faust and Aleksis Kivi.
