Sejune Kim

Born in 1988, Sejune Kim studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Tabea Zimmermann and at the Berlin University of the Arts with Hartmut Rohde. Kim studied chamber music in Munich under Hariolf Schlichtig and Christoph Poppen, and since 2015 Volker Jacobsen has been his teacher in Hanover. Kim came second in the Tokyo International Viola Competition in 2018, and third in the Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition in 2017 and in the International Max Rostal Competition in 2015. In 2013 he came first in the Jan Rakowski Competition. That same year he co-founded the Abel Quartet, which has also seen success in many competitions. He has appeared with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, the New Japan Philharmonic and the Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra. The Abel Quartet is a member of the Kuhmo Chamber Music Quartet Academy.
