Janne Tuomi

Percussion

Janne Tuomi studied at the Tampere Conservatory, the Carl Nielsen Music Academy in Denmark and both the Pirkanmaa and the Tampere University of Applied Sciences. He is percussionist with many groups, including the Osuma Ensemble, Rakka, the Tapio&Tapio Duo and the New Garden Orchestra. Tuomi has also performed with several orchestras and appeared as soloist with the Osuma Ensemble, the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra and the Pori Sinfonietta. He has also been principal percussionist with the Jyväskylä Sinfonia. He has given concerts all over the world, including solo performances at the Tampere Biennale festival and in the Tulkinnanvaraista (‘Open to Interpretation') concert series in Helsinki. He has also composed and improvised music for theatrical and dance events. Tuomi plays percussion on more than 40 recordings. At present he teaches percussion and improvisation at the Tampere Music Academy.
