Ralph Szigeti

Ralph Szigeti

Born into a family of musicians, Ralph Szigeti began violin lessons at the age of six. His teacher was his father, Florin Szigeti. Having exchanged the violin for the viola, he began studies at the Paris Conservatoire under Sabine Toutain. Other teachers have included Wolfram Christ, Nobuko Imai, Seiji Ozawa, Jean Sulem and the members of the Tokyo Quartet. In addition to taking viola lessons, he has studied conducting, music history and musical analysis. Ralph Szigeti has appeared at several festivals, including Kuhmo, the Pablo Casals at Prades, the Santander, and the events at the Seiji Ozawa International Academy in Switzerland. He frequently plays chamber music and is now principal viola player with the Douai Orchestra and the Liège Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
