Teemu Kauppinen has played with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2006 and Virtuosi di Kuhmo since 1994. He has also worked with the Deutsche Kammerakademie Orchestra, Savonlinna Opera Festival Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia in Spain and Royal Northern Sinfonia in the UK. Kauppinen is much in demand as a chamber musician and in recent years has appeared at several festivals in Finland and Croatia. He gained a Master's degree from the Sibelius Academy, where he was taught his instrument by Jussi Javas. From 1997 to 2000 he continued his studies at Cologne's Hochschule für Musik as a pupil of Veit-Peter Schüssler. In masterclasses and privately his teachers have also included Franco Petracchi, Esko Laine, Duncan McTier and Janne Saksala. Teemu Kauppinen's instrument is an Italian Antonio Guadagnini double bass from 1879.
