Niko Kumpuvaara

Niko Kumpuvaara’s brand of “accordionism” branches out in many directions. On the so‑called classical side, he has wrestled in the middleweight division of contemporary music, giving world premieres of works by Finnish composers ranging from solo pieces to concertos. In addition to classical contemporary music, he happily performs what is often called rhythmic music. In this field, his most active projects in recent years have included the Finnish schlager legend Dallapé, the electronic instrumental group Alphabeaver, and Comics in Concert, which combines live music with comic‑style illustration.
