Alberto Mesirca

Alberto Mesirca, who is from Italy, has won the Pittaluga Golden Guitar award three times: in 2007 for best disc, in 2009 for best newcomer, and again the year before last for best disc. He was also chosen as Young Artist of the Year at the Aalborg Guitar Festival in 2006 and at the guitar festival in Vienna in 2008. He has also edited and performed from old guitar manuscripts. Mesirca has recorded the entire output for guitar of Haitian composer Frantz Casséus, in collaboration with Marc Ribot. Many composers, such as Leo Brouwer and Dusan Bogdanovic, have dedicated their works to him. Concerts in recent years have taken him to such cities as Helsinki, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Stockholm and to numerous festivals around the world.
